Africa Day is a unique event that is honored throughout the entire African subcontinent. Every year on May 25, it is observed to remember the African continent’s Freedom Day or Liberation Day. Additionally, today marks the African Unity Organization’s founding day. The day is honored not just in African countries but also in many other countries throughout the globe. The celebration of Africa Day in 2022 was unique since the President of Zambia made a surprise revelation on this day. On this day, Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema declared his intention to entirely abolish the death sentence from the country’s legal system. Since this statement, a number of supportive comments have surfaced. Additionally, Zambian businessman and philanthropist Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani also expressed his unwavering support for the recent declaration made by the president of Zambia. In addition to the President’s remarks, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani said that the death sentence notion is cruel, brutal, and degrading and should be eliminated. The majority of countries in the world have already abolished the death penalty, and Zambia is following this trend. Dr. Rajan Mahtani added that the bible does not support the death punishment at the same time. The teachings and the scriptures claim that all people who believe in Jesus Christ have had their sins atoned for by his death on the cross. The death sentence is viewed as a sin in the Bible as well, and only people who have never sinned are permitted to take another person’s life. And it’s uncommon to find a human being in this world who is sinless.

Over the years, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani has made a number of humanitarian and charitable contributions to Zambia. Prison Fellowship Zambia, a renowned Christian Outreach Program, is one of his most significant charitable gifts. Dr. Rajan Mahtani backed the President’s remarks and promised that his organization, Prison Fellowship Zambia (PFZ), will support it fully on a legal and regulatory level.
