Dr. Rajan Mahtani Refutes Judgment By Lusaka High Court Judge On Portland Cement

The final judgment on Portland Cement Zambia is out. The cement factory and its case have become rather infamous due to the long-going and controversial trial at the Lusaka High Court. The factory is claimed by two famous houses of Zambia and one of them is Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani. Dr. Mahtani is among the most famous and noted businessman in Zambia. He is a citizen of Zambia and with more than thirty years of business experience, Dr. Mahtani has built an empire for him with honesty and ethical values. His most successful companies include Mahtani Group of Companies, Finance Bank Zambia and Finsbury Investments. Even the Portland Cement Zambia factory has been claimed by Dr. Rajan Mahtani and accordingly, he has submitted numerous evidences and documents to support his claim.

The factory, in the mean time, has shown significant deteriorated due to lack of leadership. Since its illegal capture, Dr. Mahtani has not been able to lead the factory and the difference between the time when he was the legal owner and leader of the factory and now is obvious. During Dr. Mahtani’s leadership, the factory flourished with surplus production and this extra profitability and revenue went back directly to the employees and labours. These employees received above-industry average wages and salaries and the factory thrived during that time. However, the factory production has declined significantly since the start of the case and it is clear that the entities currently holding the factory have no intentions of improving the production of the factory or engaging in activities for its growth.

While the judge handling this case made positive announcement by closing the case hearing and speeding up the process of judgment, the final verdict was shocking to say the least. Even with all evidences, the final verdict was against Dr. Mahtani’s claims. As such, Dr. Mahtani has now approached the higher court of Zambia to refute this misdirected judgement at Lusaka HC.
