Fight Between Dr. Rajan Mahtani And The Legal System Of Zambia Over, Gets Back Portland Cement

The last judgement for the Portland Cement Zambia factory is out. According to this decision which was given on the 31st January 2019 by Court of Appeal, Dr. Rajan Mahtani finally wins the case. After looking into all evidences and testimonials, final decision was given. Dr. Rajan Mahtani who owns the Finsbury Investments holds 58 percent shares at the factory and is the majority shareholder of the factory. On the other hand, Ventriglias who hold ownership of Ital Terrazzo Limited holds 42 percent shares at the factory and are the minority shareholders without any legal ownership over the factory. This judgement was given by justice Mwinde on behalf of the Court of Appeal.

The Portland Cement Zambia case was originally registered at the Lusaka High Court. It took more than a decade for the court of announce its final decision. The final decision came during the month of May, 2018 and despite the various evidences and testimonials, it came as a shock when the judgement was given against Dr. Rajan Mahtani. However, this changed when the Court of Appeal announced Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani as the actual owner of the Portland Cement factory. By giving this decision, justice Mwinde effectively reversed the previous judgement by the Lusaka High Court which considered Ventriglias as only shareholders of the Portland Cement Zambia factory.

Now that Dr. Rajan Mahtani has finally received justice after long-awaited trials and misjudgements, he has an even more important task at hand. Before the unethical capture of the Portland Cement Zambia factory, it was a flourishing cement-manufacturing factory which high production growth and a major source of employment for majority of the community members. However, the illegal takeover put the factory on a downward path and now the company is on the verge of downfall. As such, it is very essential that the factory is revived with the right strategy and plan.
